I just love teaching 5th grade! And surprisingly, I love having a class of all girls! I didn't think I would because girls can be so dramatic about everything. But it has been so much fun! We get to have GTT whenever I want (girl talk time) and it's so fun to hear all their stories.
My favorite part, though, is when they tell me what they think my love life should be like. For example, a couple days ago they told me I should just walk up to this guy and "accidentally" kiss him. Yeah, because kissing happens on accident! All I could do was laugh, and they just don't get it. And that also amuses me.
On Thursdays, I have a mix of 5th and 6th grade boys and girls for drama. Before Christmas, we did a reader's theater of A Christmas Carol, and when the ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge back to Fezziwig's, he sees himself dancing with Belle. As one of my groups left my room that day, I overheard one of the boys say "How am I ever going to get married if I don't even know how to dance?!"
Seirously, 5th grade is my favorite. And my class is super great this year! I don't know what I'm going to do next year without all of these fantastic girls.
However, I am SO excited for summer! We made a chain on the 100th day of school to count down. I might be more excited about it than my girls are! We're down to only 3 1/2 months until I spend 3 weeks in Europe. Wahoo! And then in July, I'm going to Havasupai, down in the Grand Canyon, with a bunch of friends. And we're doing the American Fork 5K again. And there's frisbee. And sno-cones. And warmth. And staying up as late as I want without worrying about having to get up early the next morning. And....I think you get the point.
Life is wonderful. It's full of ups and downs. But there's always light at the end of the tunnel. Right now, the light I'm moving towards is summer break. Only 53 days to go!
